New Year, New Division, New Attitude. The All Equip Repair Stratford Peewee MD Warriors started the second leg of their 2019-2020 journey right with a 3-2 win over Burlington Bulldogs White. Despite taking the play to Burlington from the start the Warriors found themselves down 2-0 midway through the game.
Spencer Murphy’s inspired performance tonight would draw the ire and frustration from the Bulldogs who would take him down at 3 different times thus giving ample opportunity to put the power play to work. On the first frame with the man advantage, the Warriors were able to set up quickly keeping the puck down low and out into the slot on multiple occasions where all the boys could find was iron. On the second opportunity, the Warriors would make no mistake and Dylan Abel would blast one in halving the deficit. Murphy’s inspired play would attract a third takedown in the 3rd drawing yet another penalty and the ire of the Burlington bench earning them a 5 on 3 advantage for a full 2 minutes. The Warriors would make no mistake when Ellis Schnurr would set up Liam Olsen form behind the net tying up the game 2-2. Schnurr would feed Abel on the rush late in the third again even strength and the Warriors would take command with a 3-2 lead. Late game dramatics would find The Warriors down a man as Luke Jackson would head to the box for a defensive zone infraction and with 2 minutes left Burlington would put the pressure on by pulling their goalie as well for a 6 on 4 to end the game. The Warriors would hold strong and take their first win on the road well played and well earned.
The Warriors will head back to Burlington to see the Bulldog’s Red January 18 to see to continuing their winning ways.
