Road Warriors
The All Equip Peewee MD team made the trek to St.Catherines on Sunday afternoon but the long bus trip did not effect the legs of the Warriors. Stratford controlled the play from the drop of the puck.
A strong forecheck from wingers Jared Smith and Owen Chadwick contributed to the Warriors dominating puck possession through all 3 periods.
The Warrior forwards utilized their point men well and defensemen Bennett Nyenhuis, Adam Jeffery, Luke Jackson, Sam Binns, and Liam Eddleston bombarded the busy St.Catherines tender with shots from the blue line.
This strategy was reflected on the scoresheet.
Dylan Abel opened the scoring for the road team in the first before St.Catherines responded shortly after. In the second, the Warriors’ strong passing paid off as Binns took a feed from D partner Nyenhuis and scored with a long shot from the point. Liam Ollson then netted Stratford’s second goal, tapping in a rebound from Jackson’s hard point shot. The home team’s goalie somehow managed to keep the score close until the Warriors sealed the win on the powerplay. Eddleston completed a nice give and go with Ollson then drove the net from the corner and finished top shelf with a backhand. St.Catherines managed to sneak in one of their own late, however the better team prevailed. Final score 4-2 for the good guys. Next Up, Burlington Bulldogs Red on January 18.
