This past weekend the Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam team
took part in the Waterloo Memorial Tournament.
Friday morning they took to the ice against the Vaughan
Rangers. A fast-paced game saw lots of opportunities at both ends of the
ice but the Warriors would fall 7-3 to the Rangers. Scoring for Stratford
was Jackson Campbell, Ben Fizell and Cole Humphrey with assists going to Ben
Fizell, Jericho McNichol and Beckham McLeod.
Friday evening the Warriors faced off with the Windsor Jr Spitfires. The Warriors hit the ice with fire in their eyes and quickly took control of the game finishing the 1st period 2-0. In the second period the determined Warriors kept the intensity level up and added 2 more goals, but Windsor would fight back to get 2 of their own. The Warriors took control of the third period and finished strong with a 6-3 win! Scoring for Stratford was Mark Pyzowski (2), Dylan Fischer (2), Nate Framst and Jackson Campbell with assists going to Nathan Gibb (2), Mark Pyzowski (2), Quinn Appel (2) Ben Fizell (2), Jericho McNichol and Nate Framst.
Saturday morning Stratford squared up to the Mississauga Terriers. Mississauga opened up the scoring, but Stratford responded to end the first period tied 1-1. In the second period the Warriors were on a mission scoring 3 more times, the Terries would respond with a goal to end the period 4-2. In the third period the Warriors worked hard and applied steady pressure to keep Mississauga out of their end and Stratford would take the win. Scoring for Stratford was Dylan Fischer (2), Quinn Appel and Cole Humphrey with assists going to Mark Pyzowski (3), Quinn Appel (2) and Dylan Fischer.
Saturday evening the Warriors met up with the Lasalle Sabers. The Warriors led the scoring most of the game but fell short in the last couple minutes of the game taking a 5-4 loss which put them out of the tournament. Scoring for Stratford was Ben Fizell (3 – hat trick) and Dylan Fischer with assists going to Jackson Campbell (2), Nate Framst (2), Quinn Appel and Mark Pyzowski.
