Warriors Grab Two Wins
The Stratford Minor Midget Warriors, sponsored by Stratford Motor Products, won both games over the weekend in Alliance Hockey regular season action.

On Saturday, the Warriors traveled to face the London Jr Mustangs White. The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Tyler Wagler, assisted by Anthony Guzvinec and Aubrey Carter and Issac Deline from Cole Lewis and Jonas Schmidt. Defensemen Drew Wilken and Matthew Barber contributed to the victory with noticeably strong physical play throughout the game. Goalie Curtis Ball stood tall and played in a major factor in preserving the 2-1 victory, especially during three prolonged 5-3 Jr. Mustangs power plays.

On Sunday back at the William Allman, the Warriors faced the St. Thomas Jr Stars for the first time since the OHF Championship game in April. The Jr Stars pounced early by converting a Warriors miscue just 0:14 into the game. Schmidt, from Nole Musselman and Cole Lewis, from Schmidt and Wagler put the Warriors up 2-1 after the opening period. In the middle frame, Musselman found the back of the net, with Schmidt and Lewis drawing assists, while the Jr Stars answered with one of their own to make it a 3-2 scoreline headed to the intermission. In the third period it was all Warriors, with Ethan Scrimgeour finishing off a goal, with Schmidt and Musselman drawing assists. Caleb Arent fired one into the empty net, off a feed from Schmidt. Issac Deline also picked up a helper on the play. Goalie Russel Sebben picked up the victory for the Warriors, including a couple of big saves off Jr Stars odd-man rushes when the game was still in question and defenseman Zach McCann continued to demonstrate his highly regarded puck-moving abilities by creating several efficient zone exits for the Warriors.

Notes: The Warriors next game is Sunday at the Allman against the Waterloo Wolves. Game time is 4:30pm; the 2018-2019 OHF Bantam Championship team will be back together this Tuesday Oct. 22nd at 7:00pm at the Rotary Complex Community Hall for the Stratford City Council Community Recognition Awards. The event is hosted by Stratford City Council to recognize teams and individuals who have won Provincial or National Championships or who have excelled in their sport.
