Warriors Enter 2020 Ready to Go
The Stratford Minor Midget Warriors, sponsored by Stratford Motor Products, played five games to start off the 2020 portion of the schedule.

On January 2nd, after a well-deserved Christmas break, the Warriors opened 2020 against the first-place London Jr Knights and finished with a 5-5 tie. Cole Lewis and Jonas Schmidt with two goals apiece and Ethan Scrimgeour with one, scored for the Warriors.

On January 5th, the Jr Knights visited the Allman for the back-half of the home-home series. The Jr Knights came out on top earning a 5-3 decision. Caleb Arent picked up two goals, with Schmidt adding the other tally.

This past weekend, the Warriors started off a three-in-three nights schedule in London against the Jr Mustangs Purple and earned a 6-1 victory. Nole Musselman and Anthony Guzvinec paced the offence with two goals apiece, with singles from Schmidt and Aubrey Carter. Goalie Curtis Ball earned the victory.

On Saturday, the Warriors traveled to Woodstock to face the Jr Navy Vets and looked tired from the puck drop, eventually losing 3-1. Lewis picked up the lone Warriors goal in the game.

Back home on Sunday, the Warriors welcomed the Sarnia Jr Sting to the Allman and won by a 5-2 score. Schmidt netted two, with singles from Scrimgeour, Tyler Wagler, and Drew Wilken. Sebben earned the victory in net.

Over the five game stretch, Lewis picked up six assists, Schmidt with four helpers, and Scrimgeour with three. Wagler, Musselman, and Jacob Hall all added two assists, with singles from Guzvinec, Arent, Wilken, Matthew Barber, Issac Deline, and Zach McCann.

Notes: the Warriors currently sit in fourth-place overall in the 13-team Alliance standings and second-place in the East Division with five games remaining; the Warriors travel to Burlington on Saturday to face the last-place Jr Cougars before returning home on Sunday for a 4:30 pm puck drop at the Allman against the second-place Cambridge Hawks; despite averaging just over 2.5 goals against per game this season, the Warriors have allowed three or more goals in three of the five games in 2020 and have gone 2-2-1 over that period.
