Warriors Headed to Alliance Playdown Finals
The Stratford Minor Midgets, sponsored by Stratford Motor Products, finished off the sweep of the Sarnia Jr Sting to earn a berth in the Alliance Minor Midget A Finals after a 3-2 victory on home ice here on Sunday.   With the victory, the Warriors run their playoff record to 6-3 and overall record to 29-16-3.

In the semi-final series, the Warriors won by scores of 5-2, 6-5, and 3-2 for the series sweep over the Jr Sting. Goalie Curtis Ball earned victories in two games and Russel Sebben allowed just three goals against spread across two appearances to earn the other semi-final victory. Defenseman Drew Wilken led the goal-scoring with 4 goals in three games and added an assist for 5-points. Jonas Schmidt picked up two goals and four assists, with Cole Lewis adding 3 goals (5 points). Tyler Wagler with two goals and Nole Musselman with one, rounded out the goal-scoring in the series.

In the previous two rounds against London Jr Knights and Woodstock Jr Navy Vets, Sebben earned all three victories to run his post-season record to 4-1, including a sweep of the London Jr Knights with 3-1 and 3-2 victories in that series. Schmidt with five goals and eight assists, Wilken with six goals (10 points), and Lewis and Wagler with five goals apiece have paced the offence in the nine playoff games. Jacob Hall moved from forward to defense during these playoffs and has played a pivotal role, adding three goals and seven points over the Warriors’ playoff run. Musselman has netted three in the playoffs, while Caleb Arent has led the team in physical play and has been rewarded on the scoresheet with two goals. Ethan Scrimgeour and Aubrey Carter have the other Warriors tally in the playoffs. Zach McCann and Matthew Barber have added two assists apiece, with singles from Anthony Guzvinec and Issac Deline.

Notes: after earning a first round bye in the Constellation AA playoffs, the Warriors were defeated by the Woodstock Jr Navy Vets; the Navy Vets will face the Cambridge Hawks in the AA final, while the Warriors await the winner of Brantford vs Hamilton for the other Championship series in Alliance Minor Midget; this is the second year in a row where the Warriors have found themselves battling for an Alliance Playdown Championship and look to earn a repeat championship in 2020.
