Winning Streak Continues
Written by Maureen Whitehead. The SMHA Jr Warriors Midget team defended their unbeaten league record this week, winning 2 games, despite being down four players.

On Monday night in Brantford, 2 goals from Jared LeSouder and a shutout by Carson Knott gave the Warriors a big win on the road.  The Brantford tender kept it close, turning aside a barrage of Stratford shots, including 22 in the 3rd period.  Assisting on LeSouder’s goals were Noah Rusen-Steele, Patrick Holloway, and Jack Whitehead.

The Warriors faced off against Woodstock at home on Wednesday night.  The Jr. Navy Vets struck first on the power play but the Warriors answered when Noah Rusen-Steele sent Whitehead and Caleb Musselman on a rush, with Musselman making it 1-1.  Adam Windsor made it 2-1, unassisted, after some hard work around the Woodstock net.  Windsor scored his 2nd of the night with a perfect wrist shot, assisted by  Rusen-Steele.  Woodstock got within reach, scoring with a minute left in the 2nd period, but the Warriors scored twice in the 3rd.    Rusen-Steele had a short-handed goal after getting his own rebound twice and finally putting it away. He completed his 4-point night when he scored the final goal of the game, assisted by Patrick Holloway and Whitehead. Kyle Powers registered the win in net for the Warriors.
