Season Underway For U13 Warriors
The long-anticipated hockey season for the Stratford Warriors, U13 Team, is well underway. Sponsored by Scotiabank Stratford, the team has determined their roster and already started the season with a few wins under their belt. So far, they have had a win against the Hamilton Huskies 4-3 on October 2, 2021 and a win versus the Jr. Mustangs Purple 3-1 on October 9, 2021. They carried home a loss against the Jr. Navy Vets on October 4th and at home on October 23, against the Jr. Kitchener Rangers.



The following players make up the final roster for the 2021/22 U13 Stratford Warriors:

Goalies: Carter Keating & Quinn Smith
Defence: Owen Blackburn; Rowan Green; Jack Bannon; Griffin Harvey; Cam Munro; Hudson Gole
Forwards: Jake Schultz; Nate Van Bakel; Caden Ollson; Graedon Smith; Reid Morris; Denver Mason; Nick McClymont; Will Pepper & Evan Hughes

The following coaches hold the bench this year:
Dan Daum - Head Coach

Nick Carter - Trainer/Assistant Coach

     On Saturday, October 23, 2021 Stratford Warriors hosted the Kitchener Rangers at the Rotary Arena. Goaltender Quinn Smith, was in net. Stratford gained an advantage early in the game with a power play, but could not find a hole in the net. Jake Schultz was intercepting passes between the Kitchener players. Nick McClymont used a power play in the first period to try a zip one past the goalie while Hudson Gole made numerous passes up to the line. Evan Hughes causes some disturbance by intercepting the puck from his man several times in the first period. At 2:34 minutes, Kitchener blasted a shot and got lucky off the bar, landing the first goal of the game. 
     During the second period, Jack Bannon dug hard in the corners. At 12:53 Stratford had to use the penalty kill and ultimately, Kitchener scored a goal on a reflection. Cam Munroe had several breaks to the net and Griffin Harvey took to the ice to keep one the puck from getting to Smith in net. Owen Blackburn and Rowan Green intercepted the puck many times and directed the puck out of their end. At 6:46 in the second period Stratford was denied a goal. Kitchener scored their 4th goal at the 3:12 mark. Reid Morris played smart by passing the puck up to the forward line. Graedon Smith took a few nice shots, but could not break through into the Kitchener net.
     The third period started with Stratford short on a penalty kill. Bannon and Harvey both had shots from the blue line but the Kitchener goalie denied them both. At 9:25, Kitchener was in the penalty box, followed by another. Then Stratford had a penalty as well. At the 3:06 mark, after a scramble in front of the Kitchener Net, Schultz dug and lifted the puck and scored the first Stratford Goal making the score 4 -1. Caden Ollson and Will Pepper were moving the puck around the forward line trying to find a way to the net. The Warriors were not letting go of the game until the buzzer. They kept up their offence by scrambling in front of  the Kitchener net. Denver Mason, Nate Van Bakel and Caden Ollson stood strong in the scrambles. The Stratford Goalie was pulled at 2:30 to see if they could add another goal to the scoreboard. The Kitchener Rangers sealed the game with an empty net goal with 41 seconds remaining. The game finished with the score being 5-1.
