The U11 Warriors sponsored by Mc Cutchen & Pearce Professional Corporation have been working at rounding their game this season.

Saturday November 12th the boys traveled to the Great Ones House to show down against the 99ers. With a 5:15PM puck drop, the boys were on it! Owen Hurley netting the first goal with a shot low glove side. Tyler Peck with a hard back check and turn around, slid a puck along the ice to net goal #2. Hurley off the draw, flew down the left side, shot top right corner netting goal #3 with five seconds left in the first. Second period was a blizzard of shots and goals from the Warriors, you couldn’t blink, or you would miss one. Joseph Moss from the hash marks, spun around, launched a shot low left side, netting goal #4. Defencemen Jaxon Hallock grabbing an A, with a pass to winger Andrew Hodgins who made no mistake in hitting the mesh, grabbing goal #5. Hurley also grabbing an A, with a pass to winger Nate Micks in-front of the net, shooting on the fly to put up goal #6. Mason Bye chipped the puck up the boards to himself, zooming down the right side, slid goal #7 across the red line. Hurley grabbing another A, with a wraparound to Micks, slamming in goal #8. Seconds later, Hurley with a zig zag threw the 99ers team, netted goal #9. As the clock was winding down, Hurley grabbed a puck at center, split the D to net goal #10 as the buzzer went, ending the period. The third period, the 99ers played a tighter game and the Warriors seemed to take a step back. 99ers on a backhanded shot netting one of their own a couple minutes in. The boys seemed to set into a more defensive game, giving Brantford some breathing room to entire the O Zone. Goaltender Sawyer Verspeeten brought out his lethal weapon, ‘The Glove’ to rob Brantford of some offensive opportunities. Two minutes left in the period Moss with a wrap around, Bye with the rebound to ring in goal #11. The 99ers on a spin shot, that was redirected got their final goal, ending the game with an 11-2 W for the red, white and blue.

On Sunday, November 13th the boys fell to the Burlington Jr Raiders Black at Allman Arena 4-2. When asking some of the boys how it went, they described the game as ‘not good’ and ‘didn’t play together’. There is always room for improvement :)

Sunday, November 20th the team made a long sunny drive to Sarnia for a 1:15pm puck drop. With only having 4 defence, the team ran quick line changes and stepped up in smoothing out the wrinkles in their team play. The first period seemed decently matched, the Sting put goaltender Verspeeten to the test right away, setting the tone. Peck played a great game, bringing out the fancy hands, tough battles, strong board play, back checking, for checking and making smart plays. Winger Joey Bitzer lit the board up first, with a shot over the goaltender during a scramble in-front of the net, ending the period 1-0. Bye rang the back bar early in the second with a wrist shot, netting goal #2. Shortly after, Verspeeten with a huge stretch post to post, came up with a big save, keeping the game 2-0. The Sting with a shot and redirect, slid in their lone goal ending the period. During the third, Micks picking a puck up at the blue line, shooting top left, netting goal #3. Peck passing out front to winger Lincoln Rae, making a clean shot top shelf on PP to end the game with a 4-1 W. The boys all had a good game, digging deep, challenging the puck, moving the puck between player and keeping the puck in the O zone. The defence had a solid game, with lots of ice time, they held the boards, kept pucks ahead of the blue line, pushing players to the outside, clearing bodies in-front of the net. The teams work on rounding out their game play, is shining through!
