Shorthanded U16 Warriors Pocket Two Huge Wins!
The Warriors had their work cut out for them this past weekend as they were short a few ailing bodies and set to host St. Thomas Saturday night and travel to Sarnia Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors were back at the Rotary Complex Saturday night to take on their perennial foes from St. Thomas.  Brody Borszcz got the call between the pipes and turned away a handful of shots early on to keep the Stars off the board.  A melee out front halfway through the period saw Brody tangled up with bodies in the crease and St. Thomas pushed the puck past the line to take the lead 1-0 after the first.  The stingy St. Thomas defence kept the Stratford attack quiet through the second, blocking shots and limiting chances.  Stratford did the same and kept action out of their zone leaving the score the same after two periods.  Stratford struck early in the third on the power play to tie the game up.  Liam Ollson sauced a pass to Ryan McGee who wasted no time and ripped it past the Stars netminder.  Eager to regain the lead, the visitors pressed in the Stratford zone but Borszcz turned away everything that got past the Warrior shot blockers.  Halfway through the period the Warriors struck again to go up 2-1, Zach Schultz jumping into the slot and burying one blocker side - assists to Ollson and Dawson White.  Stratford continued to get in the way of the Stars shots and Borszcz held his ground.  McGee iced the game late with a flip from the Stratford blue line into the empty net.  Final Score 3-1 Stratford.

Sunday the battered Warriors hit the road to Pat Stapleton Arena in Sarnia to face the Jr. Sting.  Stratford came out firing right off the opening draw and pushed the play deep into the Sarnia end.  Their aggressiveness was rewarded early as Griffin McGregor potted a rebound past the Sarnia line to make it 1-0 - assists to Logan Hallock and Dylan Abel.  The Warriors capitalized shortly thereafter on the man advantage.  Austin Musselman faked a shot and then sidestepped the defender and snapped one home to make it 2-0 - assists to Siebert and McGregor.  The second period saw the Sting take advantage of a bounce and buzz one past netminder Henry Tuer to narrow the Warrior lead to 2-1.  Stratford would respond quickly, Blake Hodgson found Dawson White in the slot and he fired one towards the net and found Liam Ollson's stick and then the back of the net.  3-1 Stratford after 2 periods.  A rough third period saw a bit more fire from the Sarnia forwards but Tuer and the Warrior shot blockers kept them frustrated.  A nifty goal from the right circle from Dawson White (A - Hodgson, Stokes) sealed the game for the visitors.  Final Score 4-1 Stratford.
