U16 Warriors vs. Kitchener Jr. Rangers
Wednesday Dec. 7, 2022 the U16 Stratford Warriors took the short trip to Kitchener to take on the Jr. Rangers.
The Warriors came out looking to find the scoresheet first. An early Kitchener penalty gave them that opportunity and they lit the lamp 16 seconds into the advantage, Gansevles (A-McGee, Hall) snapping in a rebound to make it 1-0 Stratford. Kitchener was not going away that easy however, scoring a few minutes later on a PP of their own to knot the score at 1. A furious Stratford attack dominated play in the Kitchener end for most of the period, but the Rangers netminder turned them away. 1-1 after one period.
The second period saw both teams start with odd man rushes. Stratford came up empty but Kitchener found the back of the net and put themselves on top 2-1. Rangers shot blockers stifled the Warrior attack. Henry Tuer did his part to keep the score the same as the home team put the pressure on late. 2-1 Rangers after two periods.
The Warriors found themselves with the man advantage once again early in the third and capitalized, Liam Ollson tipping in a shot from the point (A-Z. Schultz, Hall) to tie the score at 2 goals a piece. Stratford dominated the period, firing shot after shot at the Kitchener net. Griffin McGregor (A-McGee, Stokes) found a seam and ripped one past the line to put the Warriors on top 3-2 with three minutes to play. A minute later, an unlucky bounce in the Stratford end saw the puck land on a Kitchener stick out front and quickly in the back of the net to tie the game at 3. Stratford pressed until the final buzzer but it wasn't meant to be. Final score - Stratford 3, Kitchener 3.
