Drew Goebel notches 2 as Warriors win 4-3 in semi-final opener
Stratford Motor Products Minor Midgets opened their Bristol "A" semi-final series on a winning note. The Warriors edged Woostock Navy Jets 4-3 Wednesday night at the Allman Arena. Drew Goebel led the way with 2 goals, Greg Swan's unassisted goal at 7:57 of the first period opened the gate for the Tribe. Evan Metelski up from the Major Bantams added a goal assisted by Jack Rankin and Joe Gioia. Steven King and Zach Pacheco picked up an assist each on Goebel's first of the night. Woodstock outshot Stratford 33-29 as Jack Bryan picked up the win for the Warriors. The second game in the best 3 out of 5 goes Sunday at 6:15 p.m. at the Southwood Arena in Woodstock.
