Despite facing first place powerhouse Sarnia last Saturday, the
Dunny's Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors came up with their strongest
performance of the season thus far.
The Warriors employed a tenacious attack throughout which kept the Sting on their heels for much of the contest. Goaltender Brock Barclay came up with several highlight reel saves to keep the score knotted at zero through the first half of the game. The high-powered Sting offense was finally able to solve the Warriors tight defensive shell with two late goals to close out the second period. In the third, the Warriors regrouped and carried the play for most of the period. Unfortunately for the tribe, the Sarnia netminder was equal to Barclay's challenge and stoned the Warriors on several excellent scoring chances in the final frame. A controversial goal with a minute and a half remaining sealed the Warriors fate and they eventually succumbed 3-0 to the Sting. In addition to Barclay, the Warriors received outstanding efforts on the back end from Jackson Nickel & Ethan Skinner. Sam Gerber and Jacob Bossence were a force on offense all night. Next up for the Warriors is home date with the mighty West London Hawks on Saturday.
