Hawks Cup in Mitchell
Hishons Custom Tier 1 Novices opened the Mitchell tourney with a loss to BCH Ice Dogs, 4-0.

Josh Duiker had a strong game in net, making many saves. Noah Roth was passing well on offense, Eric Haynes was strong defensively, stopping a number of offensive rushes.

The Warriors then faced the Mitchell Meteors in a hard-fought loss with a score of 2-0.  This game was very intense with lots of action in both ends of the ice.  Goaltender, Jesse Merkel, had a great game including a fantastic save in the third to keep the Warriors in the game.  Offensively, Quinn Appel had some nice passes and created scoring chances.  Defensively, Marek Carter worked hard to rush back and Colton Kuepfer held the blue line and had a nice diving save out in front of our net.

On Saturday, the Warriors lost to the Goderich Sailors with a score of 5-3.  This was a great game for the Warriors.  In the first period, Nathan Gibb hit the right corner from the point to get us on the score board.  With a score of 4-1 at the start of the third, the Warriors fought back with some goals. Ryan Haines scored with an assist by Owen Gaylor who had great hustle in this game.  Brett Knechtel’s aggressive play resulted in a goal with assists from Isaac Nickel and Gabe Emms.

The final game was lost to Georgian Shores Lightening with a score of 1-0.  Daniel Rusen-Steele and Mark Pyzowski were strong along the boards and Kaleb Martin showed good hustle and back-checking.  The whole team worked hard, despite having lost the game.
