Warriors firing up for the playoffs and pick up 7 points in last 5 games! - By Erin Heisz
The Warriors faced the 2nd place Burlington Bulldogs Red and the defence was tight on both
sides resulting in a tie 1-1.
The Scotiabank Stratford Major Peewee Rep Warriors travelled to Burlington Sunday afternoon to face the second place Burlington Bulldogs Red. The first period had only 3 shots total for both teams and there was a lot of mid ice play.
Liam Parsons in net for Stratford had more action in the second period and was solid. Warriors got on a power play and had some good chances. Zach Richardson and Luke Zorgdrager got shots on net. Jared Gould had a clapper off the crossbar. Parsons had a pair of great saves. Owen Holloway was digging hard for the puck. Luke Heisz showed off his defensive skills with a nice play. Cole Meadows had a good scoring chance in tight.
Ethan Pearce tried to get us on the board to start off the third period. Then Kaden Brame grabbed the puck off a scrambled face off and shot it in low on blocker side. Ayden Hakkers with the assist. Quickly Burlington got a goal back to make it 1-1. Jake Heinbuch had a good back check. Warriors got a penalty and Ryan Middegaal worked hard on the penalty kill. Wes Duiker and Sam Jeffrey made shots from the point trying to get us the lead. Parsons stayed sharp in net and saved a 2 on 1 attempt. Danny Van Straaten blocked a shot which led to an offensive chance for us. With 8 seconds left in the game Burlington had a face off in our end. They called a time out to strategize to no avail - the game ended 1-1! With only 1 game left in regular season play, the boys are looking sharp - watch out Bristol!!
