SMHA minor midgets kicked off the final two weekends of the Alliance schedule
with a convincing 3-0 win on home ice over the London Jr Knights Green on
Saturday.
The second highest scoring team in the Alliance loop once again struck early at the rec centre when Calaen Trupp sent a laser beam to the top right shelf early in the first period. Caleb Musselman and Jack Whitehead helped setup the opening tally. Not long after that Aiden McMann worked the puck down low to Luke Gaylor who setup Patrick Holloway for a short side marker and a 2-0 Warrior lead.
Part way through the second period defenseman Maverick Mulder snuck in and jumped on a Carter Musselman feed and calmly fired it home giving Stratford a 3-0 lead going to the break. Whitehead also drew an assist. Despite steady offensive pressure by the Warriors in period three, eight saves by the Londen tender kept the period scoreless. Tallyn Soper had 12 saves on the night in the Warrior goal to earn the shutout.
Depending on action next weekend, Stratford will end up in 3rd or 4th place in the Alliance standings and face either the Green Knights or Sarnia in round one of the AA Constellation playdowns
