Road Warriors Bring Home Hardware
The Royal LePage - Hiller Realty Minor Peewee Rep and Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Rep teams both have great weekends in Belle River!

This past weekend the Royal LePage - Hiller Realty Minor Peewee Rep and the Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Rep teams were on the road in Belle River. Both SMHA teams had great round robin performances advancing to the semi finals as the #2 seeds.

The Minor Atoms advanced to the finals in dramatic fashion. Down 2-0 after the 1st period they managed to battle back and tie the game against a strong Georgina team. Moving on to a 5 minute 3-on-3 overtime period that featured frantic back and forth action, the Warriors managed to end the game with less than a minute left as Ethan Schmidt went "roof" after a great pass from Owen Martin from behind the net.

The Minor Atom finals was an exciting back and forth affair with multiple posts hit, acrobatic saves and dramatic plays against a highly ranked Burlington Eagles Gold team. Again down 2-0, the Warriors managed to battle back and tie the game in the second period. After dominant shifts by both teams late in the 3rd period Burlington managed to sneak a point shot through traffic to seal their championship with only 18 seconds left on the clock.

The Minor Peewee team came out on fire in their semi final matchup against a St. Catherines team that they previously played a tight game against in round robin play. After a quick strike to open the scoring the Warriors continued to use great puck movement and a relentless forecheck to dominate en route to a 7-2 win.

The Minor Peewee final again saw a round robin rematch against the #1 seed Halton Hills Thunder. This game proved to be a much tighter battle as it took regulation, 5 minutes of 3-on-3 and then a SHOOTOUT to decide a winner. Still tied after 3 rounds of the shootout it took until the 6th round for the Warriors to bring home gold!

Congratulations to both teams on their successful weekends! THANK YOU to both sets of players this past weekend that showed up early or stayed at the rink to support the other SMHA team in the medal rounds, great to see!
