Major Bantams Bring Home Silver Stick Gold

The Canadian Tire Major Bantam Rep team battled all weekend in the Pelham Regional Silver Stick.

Over the holiday break the Canadian Tire Major Bantam Rep team participated in the Pelham "A" Regional Silver Stick tournament.

Round robing began with two losses followed by a close 2-1 win to advance as the #3 seed form the "B" pool and a quarter final matchup against the #2 seed Milton Winterhawks. After playing a defensive gem of a game and shutting down Milton on Saturday night, 4-0, the Warriors returned to the ice Sunday morning and once again were able to limit chances in a rematch from round robin play against the Burlington Eagles to advance to the finals.

The finals saw another round robin rematch against the Welland Tigers. After falling behind 2-0 after two periods the Warriors dug deep to gain a 3-2 advantage in the third period only to have Welland tie the game with under a minute to go in regulation. After some back and forth overtime play Stratford managed to seal the victory with 31 seconds remaining in overtime!

Organization Notes: The Bantam Rep team will represent SMHA in the Port Huron Silver Stick Finals from January 16th to 19th along with the Peewee Rep team from January 23rd to 26th. The Midget Rep team will also represent SMHA in the Sarnia Silver Stick Finals from January 17th -19th. Good luck to all teams at their respective finals!
