The International Silver Stick Board of Directors held a meeting to review the Covid-19 situation as it relates to Minor Hockey in Ontario and Alberta.

After lengthy discussions, the following three (3) motions were made and approved.

Regional Tournaments

Canadian Regional Qualifying tournaments for the 2020-2021 season are postponed until 21-22.

International Finals

All Internationals Finals for the 2020-2021 season are postponed until 21-22. (Except Port Huron AAA)

Rational

We know that for many of you this will be very disappointing, as such the decision was a very hard one to make.  The Canadian International Directors reached out to a number of centers to better understand what was happening locally in respect to the startup of hockey, the feasibility of hosting a tournament prior to Christmas and the impact of teams not being able to cross borders.  We also reached out to the Member Centers who were not able to advise as to any potential date for tournament sanctioning in Ontario.  The consensus was that in Ontario, Youth Hockey would not likely commence until it was deemed safe to do so and at that point there was not a clear indicator as to what hockey would look like.

We are hopeful that our membership supports our decision and understands it has been made for the well-being of all concerned, the players and coaches, the parents and our volunteer tournament staff.
