Minor Bantam Winning Streak Continues
Submitted By Probinson on Sunday, November 28, 2010
The Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantams have extended their unbeaten streak to 13 with two decisive victories on the weekend. Having finished the first half at the top of the A Division in the Alliance hockey league, the team trounced Oakridge on Saturday 8 - 0 and beat London Bandits, 8 -5, in what turned out to be a feisty game!

In the 8 - 0 victory on Saturday,  Josh Hill, Maverick Petrie and Brandon Taylor contributed four points each, followed by Greg Hansford with three points. Jared Prekup got his first goal of the season. Owen McLeod, Zac Ernest, Nick Strangway, and Wade Niezen got assists. On Sunday, the team faced the London Bandits. Three quick goals by Hansford, Petrie and McLeod put the Warriors up 3 - 1 early in the game. It was 4 - 2 after the second, on a goal by Josh Hill. The third period saw lots of scoring with the final result being a 8 - 5 victory for the Warriors. Sean Hood Tidman and Evan Metelski each scored, along with Hansford, who got his second goal over the glove side from a close angle, and Hill with an empty netter. Metelski also earned three assists in the game, Strangway got two and Niezen also got one. The power play was strong, accounting for three of the goals over the weekend.
