Culliton Major Midgets Win Home Opener
The Stratford Culliton Major Midgets downed the Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets 5-2 at their home opener on Saturday during Warrior Day. Stratford jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than a minute in on a goal by Sam Campbell, and a little over a minute later Jake Near put them up by two. After Woodstock cut the lead to 2-1, Near netted his second on the power-play. With Woodstock pressing midway through the second period, goalie Spencer Marsh provided key saves to ensure there was no momentum shift. Campbell added a power-play and a shorthanded goal to complete his hat-trick and was named player of the game for his efforts. Stratford hosts the Brantford 99‘ers on Sunday, Oct 9th at Allman Arena, puck drops at 5pm.
