Warriors Drop Home Opener
The All-Equip Peewee MD Warriors lost their home opener against West London in a hard-fought 3-2 loss on the weekend.

"Although the loss was tough to take, there were some bright spots", explained head coach Steve Eidt.  "The team worked hard and they were aggressive on the puck.  We also have a lot of new defencemen this season, and they did well out there.  It was our first game and we will get better."

After a scoreless first period, the Warriors gave up two goals, one of those short-handed.  "We need to be a little more disciplined", explained Trainer Kevin Koch.  "We like the aggressiveness, but we need to control it.  We had five penalties throughout the game, playing short-handed for 10 minutes.  That's tough."

The Warriors fought back with a goal in the second and one more in the third.  The first goal was scored by Brody Jeffrey who went to the net to get a rebound from Colten Cowen.  The second goal was scored by Nicholas McCabe, assisted by Zach Freeland.  "It was nice seeing the new kids contribute so quickly.  They were pushing the team to skate harder", commented Super-fan Todd Nickel.

Brock Barclay was solid in net - making key saves at big moments.  He kept the team in the game.  However, late in the third West London scored to take the 3-2 lead.  The Warriors came very close to tying up the game with a minute left after he hit the cross-bar on a great wrist-shot.

The Warriors play again next weekend in Sarnia and back at home October 14th against the Oakridge Aeros
