Opening game defeat
The Stratford Motor Products Minor Midget Warriors opened their 2017-18 campaign with a 1-0 defeat in Hamilton on Sunday. The Warriors carried the bulk of the play out-chancing Hamilton almost 2 to 1. If not for some strong goalteanding and some missed opportunities, Stratford would have most definitely come away with a different result. Kari Dingman got the start in goal and turned away all but one of the opposition's scoring opportunities with some strong positional play. Cal McMann and Tate Gaylor were solid defensively for the Warriors while Eric Roes, Jacob Wiles and Ben Wyatt sustained pressure in the offensive zone. Stratford will be back in action on Wednesday in Kitchener. - D. Cassone
