The INSURANCE CENTRAL Minor PeeWee MD’s played North London
for the 3rd time in 2 weeks, and came away with a 6-2 victory.
Liam Westman (Connor Franke) got the home team off on the right foot, scoring 10 seconds into the game. Despite the early start, goals were hard to come until late in the 2nd, when 4 goals were scored in the span of 1minute 37 seconds. The flurry started when Peter Williams (Steven Tuer) put the home team up by 2 goals. 34 seconds later, Michael Cossey (Williams, Nathan Ferguson) scored for the Warriors, with Franke (Westman) finishing the quickest 3 goals the team had ever scored when he put the team up 4 – 1. Not wanting to be left out, London broke Jeremy Wickenheiser’s shut-out bid, when they scored under a minute later.
The teams entered the 3rd with Stratford up 4 – 1. The gap was closed to 2 goals when London notched their 2nd of the game mid-way through the period. Stratford goals by Anthony Gioia (Cole McKay) and Cossey’s 2nd (Ferguson, Williams) finished the scoring for the 6 – 2 Stratford victory.
The victory was a result of a good team effort, with the defence getting the puck nicely to the boards in the defensive zone and the forwards moving the puck well up the ice. The team’s next game is Saturday against the league leading Oakridge Aero’s.
