KW Oktoberfest Tournament
The Atom Rep team sponsored by Perth Auto Dissmantler’s had an excellent tournament in Kitchener this past weekend.
The team won their pool with a record of 2-1-0.
First match was against the Oakville Rangers and won by a score of 2-1.
Goals were scored by David Shantz and Domenic Boon with assists from Tyson Hall, Jared Searles, Dylan Hall and Trent Zorgdrager.
The team scored both goals in the 3rd period to tie the game early and then take the lead with just 2:03 remaining on the clock.
The 2nd match was against North London and resulted in a 2-2 tie.
Both goals were scored by David Shantz with assists from Connor Otto and Hayden Arms.
All goals were scored in the 3rd period which made for an exciting match... with Stratford tieing the match with their 2nd goal with less than 3 minutes left to play.
The 3rd match of the round robin was against the Erindale Spitfires.
Stratford won by a score of 1-0 with the goal scored by Domenic Boon unassisted.
As a result of injuries to Everett Hawkins out with a lower body, and Carter Lewis, Kobe Robinson and Domenic Boon were called up and assisted the team in finishing first in their pool. Outstanding credit also goes out to the goalies Liam McCann and Jarod Fleming for solid performances in all games.
Stratford proceeded to the semi-final match on Sunday morning to play off against Burlington Bulldogs.
At the end of regulation, the score was 1 – 1 with the lone Stratford goal unassisted by Brendan Moorehead.
Overtime was a 4 on 4 sudden death format with the Bulldogs scoring with 5 minutes into the extra time.
Although the team did not proceed to the finals of the tournament, finishing 1st in the pool and going undefeated will provide lots of confidence heading back into league play.
Next match for the Perth Auto Dissmantlers will be on Wednesday, October 26th at the Rotary complex as we host the West London Hawks for a 7pm puck drop
