Regular Season Road Trip to Sarnia
Coming off their third championship final appearance in three tournaments this season, the Stratford Canadian Tire Bantam Rep Warriors headed down the 402 on Saturday to face the Sarnia Jr. Sting in regular season action.
The Warriors kicked off the scoring just 1:15 into the game on a goal by Aubrey Carter from Ethan Scrimgeour and Nick Houben. Just two minutes later, the Sting answered back to tie the game at 1-1. The Warriors peppered 15 shots at the Sting goalie, while Russel Sebben stopped 10 of 11 shots he faced in the opening frame.
In the second, the Sting scored the lone goal two minutes into the period. The Warriors outshot the Sting 15-5 in the second, but could not manage to get one behind the opposing goaltender.
In the final period, the Warriors netted three goals, while the Sting answered with two of their own past Curtis Ball who shared the net with Sebben in the game. Jacob Hall scored twice, while linemate Cole Lewis netted the other goal. Centre Jonas Schmidt and Drew Wilken each had two assists in the third period with Lewis and Zach McCann adding single assists.
NOTES: Final shots on net were 46-24 in favour of the Warriors. Next action for the Warriors is next weekend in Waterloo for the Waterloo Memorial Minor Hockey Tournament with two games on Friday and another two on Saturday.
