Atoms Shut out Defending League Champs
The Stratford Perth Auto Dismantlers AA Atoms earned a measure of revenge on Sunday evening when they travelled to Woodstock and shut out the defending league champions by a score of 1-0. Goaltender Tyler Parr mastered the Woodstock offense with a dominant performance in net handing the Navy Vets only their 5th loss in 2 years. Parr withstood repeated attacks, making difficult stops look easy until Stratford was able to capitalize on a late powerplay. Haden Shantz swooped in to put home a rebound off a Michael Messerschmidt shot. The Warriors worked hard and hung on for what seems like their sweetest victory of the season.
On Saturday the Warriors were not so fortunate as they were downed 5-2 by Kitchener. A mid game lapse was costly as the Warriors never recovered. Dean Jackson had a great game up front, scoring on nice wrap around and Brett Stelmachuk was the other marksman for Stratford.
