On Saturday
January 14th the Warriors travelled to Woodstock where they defeated
the Jr. Navy Vets 4-3. Mitchell LaFay scored short-handed in the first off a
Jared LeSouder pass. Woodstock answered with one of their own before the end of
the frame. A lone powerplay goal by Kaden Eybergen put Stratford back on top in
the second. Adam Windsor scored in the third before Woodstock scored their
second. Jared LeSouder scored an empty netter in the final minute sealing the
deal for the Warriors. Riley Mathieson had a strong game on the blue line with
Noah Rusen-Steele having a tenacious game up front.
On Sunday the 15th, the Warriors hosted the St. Thomas Jr. Stars and came out on top with a 2-1 victory. As usual, the game was tight with both teams having their share of chances. St. Thomas scored the only goal in the first period. With rebounds hard to come by, Stratford finally answered with one in the second by Jared LeSouder assisted by linemates Adam Monteith and Mitchell LaFay. The Warriors were able to hold on until late in the third period when LeSouder notched his second of the contest. Tyler Pogson and Alex Cassone stood tall on defence while the line of Matthew Whittemore, Aly McLeod and Noah Rusen-Steele had a strong game offensively.
These games improve the Warriors to 4-0 in 2012 and puts them alone atop the Bristol A league.
