The Stratford Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors played host to the St Mary’s Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom AE Rock on Friday night and skated to a come back from behind 7-5 win. This was the first of back to back games involving Stratford/St Mary’s teams at the Allman Arena which was followed by the Culliton/Lincoln’s game. The Warriors had a pre-game dressing room pep talk from Myles Melcher and Brad McClure of the Cullitons. Stratford fell behind 2-0 midway through the first when Austin Taylor scored from Caelan Eveleigh and Marcus Nicholson to cut the lead in half. St Mary’s went ahead 3-1, but Andrew Ivey tallied late in the first with Eveleigh and Dominic Boon picking up the assist.
The Rock took a 5-2 lead late into the second period until forward Austin Taylor was pulled down on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot and he made no mistake in burying the puck. Marcus Nicholson scored 21 seconds later with Taylor and Eveleigh adding the assists. Stratford tied the game up early in the third period on a stellar poke check from Stratford goaltender Paul Bennett and defenseman Brett Maguire firing a long lead pass to Dominic Boon, who deposited the puck into the St Mary’s net. Josh Smith gave the Warriors the lead on a blistering wrist shot top shelf on a pass from Josh Bossence. Boon scored an insurance marker into an empty net with helpers from Nicholson and Ryan Lott.
