The Stratford Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors opened up their round robin playoff series by traveling to Sarnia on Sunday. The Warriors outplayed and out hustled the Sting, but fell short 2-1. Goaltender Paul Bennett was solid when called upon with several key saves. Josh Smith evened the score in the second period on a well placed shot into the corner of the net from a Josh Bossence feed. The Warriors were turned away on breakaways from Marcus Nicholson and Ben Wilker. Stratford came close to tying the game up late in the third period on a Ryan Lott wrist shot that rang off the crossbar. Warriors Andrew Ivey, Reece Houghton and Jake Emerson were aggressive on the penalty kill and battles in the corners.
