Warriors win battle against Oakridge

The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWees continued their excellent second-half of the season play Thursday night in Oakridge. In what was a chippy game, Stratford did a good job to stay disciplined throughout the hockey game and took advantage of some power play opportunities.

Jakob Partridge opened the scoring on the Warriors first of two power play goals, with assists going to Sean Chisholm and Michael Messerschmidt. Oakridge would battle back to take a 2-1 lead in the hockey game, but the Warriors kept working hard and scored three unanswered goals in the third period to grab a 4-2 lead. The Warriors scored a goal at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded in the third with the goal scorers being Haydn Shantz and Dean Jackson, with two respectively. Some excellent play by Josh McNaughton and the Max Britton as they each assisted twice. In the end the special teams were the difference and Haydn Shantz was able to add one more for the Warriors into the empty net to seal the victory 5-3. Stratford has one more game this Saturday before heading into a bit of a break for the holidays.
