Warriors Complete Weekend Split

The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWee Warriors played two games over the past weekend, against North London Friday night and home to Burlington Sunday going 1-1 in the process.

The Warriors opened the weekend with a full team effort that resulted in a 4-1 victory Friday night.  The Warriors fell behind 1-0 but battled back hard producing four unanswered goals and a victory. Good discipline and communication led to several power play opportunities that the Warriors took advantage of, and ultimately made the difference in a good hockey game. Michael Messerschmidt and Sean Chisholm each had a goal and an assist, while Haydn Shantz and Josh McNaughton scored one each for the Warriors. Also adding assists were Sam Davey, Jakob Partridge, Eric Gibb, Dean Simons and Andrew Maguire.

In the second game of the weekend a very slow start proved to be more then the Warriors could come back from. Down 5-2 by the time the third period started Stratford faced a challenge to get back into the hockey game. A well played third period gave the Warriors a chance as they pulled within one goal with just under 5 minutes to go but it wasn’t enough as Burlington held on to win 5-4. Dean Jackson provided most of the offence for Stratford scoring three goals in the game, while Michael Messerschmidt added one goal and two assists. Also collecting assists in the game were; Josh McNaughton with two and singles by Jakob Partridge, Sam Davey, Zach Otto, and Andrew Maguire.

The Warriors have six games remaining in the second half before beginning play-offs and look to get back to their winning ways in back to back home games this weekend against North London and Waterloo.
