Warriors Pick Up Pair of Well Deserved Wins

The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWees played two games over the weekend going 2-0 and picking up 4 points in the process. After a disappointing loss to close out the previous weekend the Warriors were determined to give a better effort and they were rewarded this weekend.

The first of two games was against North London at the Molson Complex. Stratford came out hard and grabbed the momentum early by scoring the first goal of the game early in the first period. Solid pressure in the offensive zone and good positional play led to a 5-0 victory by the time the final buzzer sounded. Tyler Parr was excellent in nets for the Warriors and rewarded with the shutout. Goal scorers in the game were Eric Gibb with two, Jakob Partridge, Sam Davey and Andrew Maguire, with assists going to Haydn Shantz (2), and singles to Dean Jackson, Josh McNaughton, Sean Chisholm, Zach Otto, Dean Simons, Aaron Skinner, and Michael Messerschmidt.

In the second game of the weekend the Warriors hosted Waterloo at the Allman Arena. Stratford came out strong again and were all over Waterloo early, building a 3-0 lead before the game was five minutes old. The Warriors would hold that lead going into the second period, where Waterloo would put together a strong push. Back and forth play early in the second lead to the two teams exchanging goals before Waterloo closed the period with three goals of their own to knot the score 4-4 heading into the final frame. It was the Warriors who showed they were the hungrier team as they moved the puck well, kept the pressure on the visitors and Mitch Watt came up with some excellent, timely saves in the last period and Stratford was able to walk away with a 6-4 win. Sean Chisholm led the team offensively scoring 3 goals and adding 1 assist. Other goal scorers for Stratford were Dean Jackson, Sam Davey and Haydn Shantz, while assists went to Eric Gibb, Dean Jackson, Josh McNaughton, Aaron Skinner, Jakob Partridge and Dean Simons.
