Warriors Pick Up Back to Back Wins

The Stratford Hiller Realty Minor PeeWee Warriors picked up four important points over the weekend to climb above .500.

The Warriors started the weekend with an afternoon match up against the Waterloo Wolves on Saturday. After surrendering an early goal Stratford stepped up to score four straight goals and take a 4-1 lead into the third period, and would eventually finish the game with a 5-2 victory. Goal scorers in the game were Jakob Partridge, Eric Gibb, Sean Chisholm, Josh McNaughton, and Dean Jackson with assists going to Chisholm, Michael Messerschmidt, Sam Davey, Jackson, Haydn Shantz, Zach Otto, and Andrew Maguire. Mitch Watt was solid between the pipes for the Warriors and the team played an excellent defensive game in front of him to secure the victory.

On Sunday evening the Warriors hosted the Oakridge Aeros at the Allman Arena. Stratford started the game quickly burying three opening period goals, and spotting themselves a lead they would not give up, on their way to a 6-2 victory. Jakob Partridge, Sean Chisholm and Michael Messerschmidt each had three points in the game as Partridge and Messerschmidt collected a goal and two helpers each and Chisholm added two goals and one assist. Eric Gibb potted two for the Warriors as well, with remaining assists going to Haydn Shantz- with two- and singles for Brett Stelmachuk and Dean Simons. Tyler Parr was consistent in net throughout the game and the defense did an excellent job to break the forwards out of the defensive zone all game long.

The Warriors close out the regular season with a road game on Sunday in Burlington before beginning the first round of play-offs.
