In Third Game this week the Warriors fall short
On Wed night, The Stratford Crabby Joes Minor Bantam MD Warriors travelled to London to take on the Oakridge Aeros and try to vault into first place in their division. With the momentum of winning their last two games, with a combined 6 goals for and 0 against, the Warriors were looking to sweep the Aeros in their season series. With the grind of playing 3 games in 3 nights the Warriors came out in the first period looking very sluggish as the Aeros took the game to Stratford and put two goals past netminder Xavier Rutherford. The second period brought a momentum change and on the back of some acrobatic saves by Rutherford, the Warriors responded with a goal from Kalyb McComb on a beautiful feed from Leam Hughes.
Stratford was taking over the game until a series of penalties took the wind out of the Warriors sails. The Aeros scored on the powerplay early in the third period and then put the game out of reach with a late marker dropping the Warriors by a score of 4-2. The Warriors look to bounce back when they meet the Aeros in their upcoming tournament opener in Cambridge.
