Warriors bounce back with a shutout
One night after being defeated in London, the Stratford Crabby Joes Minor Bantam MD Warriors hosted the London Hawks at the Molson Arena. This was an opportunity for Stratford to get a much needed win. With solid goaltending by Xavier Rutherford, the Warriors fended off an early onslaught by the Hawks until Blake Keen scored an opening goal for Stratford with Wesley Keutsch and Evan Roulston assisting. This goal sparked the Stratford squad and its power play clicked with beautiful puck control and movement. With less than three minutes remaining in the third, Parker Wamboldt scored with another assist by Keutsch and Matt Carman.
With the night before still fresh in their minds, the Warriors knew that a two goal lead wasn’t enough. They came out strong in the second with Wamboldt scoring early and Keutsch assisting again. The second ended with Stratford up 3-0 and with Rutherford holding strong in Stratford's net. Wamboldt knew he had a third in him and with 2:48 remaining, he got the hat trick with Keutsch picking up his fourth assist of the night. Rutherford was rewarded with a shutout. Final score was 4-0 for Stratford.
