Long trek to Sarnia Disappoints
The Stratford Crabby Joes Minor Bantam MD Warriors were finally back in action Friday night as they travelled to Sarnia. After a lengthy layoff, the Warriors were anxious to hit the ice and get back into action. Stratford came out strong in the first period and carried the play for most of the period, however, Sarnia snapped in two quick goals before Parker Wamboldt responded off a beautiful rush from defenceman Matthieu Carman. Although down 2-1 in the first period, Stratford looked like the better team early in the match.
Unfortunately, Stratford couldn't carry their momentum into the second and Sarnia was up 3-1 at the end of the second. Sarnia's intensity continued into the third as they scored and increased their lead to 4-1 until Stratford struck again after a hard-fought play by Sam Knechtel with assists from Wesley Keutsch and another by Matthieu Carman. In the end, Stratford's efforts were not enough as Sarnia scored twice in the third making the final score 6-2 for Sarnia.
