A Hard Fought Battle
AJ Jackson Construction Minor Atom MD opened their season with a hard fought battle against the London Bandits Black. Jacob Bossence opened the scoring for the Warriors in a nice individual effort on a pass from Liam Flanagan. Corey Van Nes capitalized on a defensive breakdown by London and buried his opportunity for the Warriors second goal.
Nicholas McCabe then scored on a great second effort after a nice feed from Maddox Keller. Jackson Nickel completed the Warriors scoring by going top shelf on a feed from McCabe.
Owen Saunders was stalwart on defence and took home player of the game honors. Brock Barclay was solid between the pipes while facing a barrage of shots.
On Sunday, the Warriors took a tough loss against a strong Sarnia squad. The Warriors stayed even with the Sting in the first period with some strong defensive play and some outstanding goaltending by Brock Barclay. The Warriors suffers a lull in the second period and Sarnia capitalized on some defensive miscues. However, they finished with a strong third period and generated several scoring opportunities. Owen Saunders continued his excellent play and scored the Warriors lone goal assisted by Nicholas McCabe and Jackson Nickel.
