Brett Maguire's goal at 4:34 of overtime lifted the Stratford Nes-Tech Minor Peewee MD Warriors to a 3-2 victory over the London Nationals in game one of the West Alliance semi final last night in London.
Josh Smith, who was controlling the puck with two defenders pressuring him, hit Maguire with a perfect pass in the neutral zone. Maguire stepped in just over the London blueline and fired a hard slap shot over the glove hand of the London goaltender.
Jake Emerson opened the scoring for the Warriors and added his second of the game midway through the second period in a back and forth affair. Austin Taylor assisted on both Emerson goals.
Stratford leads the four point series 2-0 and can move onto the finals with a win Tuesday night in Stratford.
