Warriors Downs 99’ers in Stratford
The Scotiabank Peewees continued their strong play
over the weekend, competing hard in a back-and-forth game against the visiting
Brantford 99’ers that would see the Warriors come out on top. Stratford opened the
scoring in the first period with a goal by Zach Otto and Michael Messerschmidt would
add two more goals in the middle frame to build a 3-0 lead only halfway through
the game.
Brantford didn’t quit however and began to push back scoring 1 before the end of the 2nd period and eventually adding two more to begin the final period. Knotted at 3-3 with just over 5 minutes to go, it was the captain Eric Gibb who fired home a bullet from the point that would hold up as the game winner, Michael Messerschmidt would add an empty netter to seal the victory. The other goal scorers in the game for Stratford was. Stratford played a well-balanced game attacking aggressively and tough defending in their own zone. The Warriors will look to build on this momentum when they play Woodstock on December 15 at the Allman Arena.
