Warriors Down Jr. Navy Vet
The Stratford Scotiabank Peewee Warriors continued their
strong second half play Saturday afternoon against Woodstock, downing the
visiting Navy Vets by a lopsided 8-3 final score.
Stratford played a well-balanced game, attacking the zone consistently and frustrating the opposition with a well-organized defensive structure. Woodstock opened the scoring early in the first period, but it was all Stratford after that, as the Warriors buried 8 times on their way to sealing their second consecutive victory. Stratford goals were contributed evenly from; Michael Messerschmidt (2), with singles from Zac Otto, Max Hall, Dean Jackson, Brayden Carnegie, Ethan Hill and Sam Davey. Mitch Watt was solid in goal for the Warriors when called upon and the defensive unit was rock solid in limiting quality chances and setting up plays in the opposition end. Stratford will need to continue to improve their discipline as they close out before the break with a rematch against London Green before opening up their home tournament over the holidays.
