Stratford’s Hockey Training Above Tier III Novices went 1-1-1 at the Meridian Christmas Classic Hockey Tournament in Niagara-on-the-Lake this past week-end. Stratford faced Niagara Falls in their first game and lost a close match 6-4. Ryan Haines scored a hat trick while Owen Gaylor had one.
The team faced North York in an exciting second game and the result was 4-4. Isaac Nickel scored two goals and Andrew Leitch had one. Josh Duiker scored late in the game to tie things up. Daniel Rusen-Steele gave a strong performance and recorded an assist.
Stratford continued to play well and in their third and final game, all team members contributed to an outstanding 9-0 win over East York. Isaac Nickel led the way with a hat trick, and Ryan Haines scored two goals. Singles were contributed by Colten Kuepfer, Daniel Rusen-Steele, Owen Gaylor, and Andrew Leitch. Assisting on some of the goals were Kaleb Martin, Gabe Emms, and Rusen-Steele. Quinn Appel and Jeremy Dakin-Brown shared in the shut-out.
