Stratford’s Hockey Training Above Tier III Novice Warriors completed their playdown series this past week-end with a win and a loss. On Saturday it was a team effort as they defeated the Oakridge Aeros 3-2. Ryan Haines opened the scoring for Stratford in the first period. Goaltender Josh Duiker made some key saves to hold the Aeros at bay for the first two periods. They eventually scored early in the third to tie the game 1-1. Stratford regained the lead with a goal from Brett Knechtel. Oakridge finally replied with 35 seconds remaining in the third to tie the game again. The Warriors did not give up and Haines scored his second goal of the game 10 seconds later.
Quinn Appel had two assists, Isaac Nickel, Andrew Leitch, and Haines each had one. Nathan Gibb played well defensively.
On Sunday Stratford finished their season with a hard fought 5-0 loss to the West London Hawks Black. Josh Duiker, Marek Carter, and Nathan Gibb were recognized for their efforts.
