Warriors Defeat Nationals -Brame Gets 2
The Hishons Custom Tier 1 Warriors played two games during this past week. Tieing the Sarnia Jr. Sting 1-1 and defeating the London Nationals 4-1.

On Thursday they played the Sarnia Jr. Sting. The Sting scored early in the game to take a 1-0 lead. The warriors had their passing game going and applied a great deal of pressure, with Jonas Schmidt hitting two posts. Finally 3 minutes into the third period Luke Zorgdrager scored his first goal of the season on a shot from the slot with the assist going to Ethan Martin. Neither team was able to score after that and the game ended in an exciting 1-1 draw.

On Saturday the Warriors faced the first place London Nationals. The Nationals have allowed the fewest goals of any team in the league. The Warriors scored first on a goal by Kaden Brame with only 10 seconds left in the first period. Daniel Van Straaten got the only assist. The Nationals tried to step up their game but found the Warriors to be with them stride for stride and neither team was able to score in the second period. However, four minutes into the third period Brame stole the puck at the Nationals blue line and beat the goalie high on the glove side. Ten minutes later defenseman Haden Frayne rushed the puck from the Warriors blue line, broke through the Nationals defense and made the score 3-0.  From the ensuing face-off the nationals fought their way into the slot taking a hard shot which goalie James Hopper kicked out. Unfortunately the rebound went straight to the stick of another opposing player who scored into the empty net. The Warriors finished the game shorthanded taking two penalties in a row. The Nationals pulled their goalie but were unable to contain the Warriors and Van Straatten scored an empty netter on a wrap around.

The Warriors have not lost in 5 games and have only given up 5 goals in that time. Congratulations to the team’s defense and especially to goalie James Hopper who has faced 109 shots in that time.
