Dunny's Weekend Roundup
Despite their best efforts, Dunny’s Source for Sports Atom MD Warriors came up short in 2 games this weekend.

On Saturday at home, the Warriors jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold off the offensive attack by Oakridge and fell to the Aeros. Jacob Bossence and Nathan Cardoso each tallied a goal and an assist to lead the scoring.  Nicholas McCabe also chipped in a goal while James Koch registered an assist.  Sam Gerber and Ethan Skinner moved the puck well on defense while Corey Van Nes and Owen Akey battled hard up front.  Brock Barclay made some key saves between the pipes.

On Sunday, the Warriors travelled to North London to face the Nationals in a gritty affair.  True to form, Dunny's controlled play throughout the first period, but came away trailing 1-0 as the Nationals made the most of their limited opportunities.  The Warriors got off to a sluggish start in the second allowing London to penetrate the defense numerous times and capitalize to extend their lead to 5-0.  Late in the frame while playing shorthanded, Ethan Boersma popped in a rebound on a nice individual effort from Jacob Bossence to get the Warriors on the board.  This effort seemed to spark the tribe as they regrouped and stepped up their play in the third and regained the momentum.  On a nifty pass from Maddox Keller, Nick McCabe split two defenders and blasted a shot on net, then banged home his own rebound to chip away at the deficit.  Twenty seconds later, James Koch went top shelf from the high slot to pull the Warriors within two.  A flurry of chances ensued, but were turned away by the Nationals goaltender to keep them on top.  London would add an insurance marker late in the period and the Warriors ran out of time falling 6-3 at the buzzer.  Additional assists went to Ethan Skinner and Nathan Cardoso.  Strong forechecking by Liam Flanagan and Jackson Nickel kept the London rearguards on their heels and the defensive work by Mitchell Leitch and Matt Trachsel was commendable.  Colin Wickenheiser was strong in the Warrior cage turning away a number of breakaways late.
