Stratford Royal Lepage Hiller Realty minor Peewee Warriors split the week end winning one game and losing one game.
Saturday the Warrirors came out flying at Allman arena scoring the first three goals in a 3-2 victory over Cambridge. Aly McLeod opened the scoring scooping up a loose puck in the neutral zone and flying in on the Cambridge goal where she deaked the goalie and slid the backhand into the empty side of the net five minutes into the game. Mason Petrie put the Warriors ahead by two goals taking a cross ice pass from Callum McMann and breaking down the right wing and beating the goalie with a hard wrist shot to the far side. Tyler Pogson widened the margin to three with two minutes to play in the first period blasting a drive in off the post through heavy traffic from the point off a feed from Jared Lesouder.
Cambridge traded chances with the Warriors throughout the second and third period and made good twice but Carson Knott shut the door several times to spoil the comeback and preserve the victory while Alex Cassone and Cohen Lesouder battled in front of their net all evening.
The Warriors travelled to Hamilton Sunday where they failed to capitalize on several good scoring chances in the first period ending up tied 0-0 after one. The missed opportunities came back to haunt them in the second when the Huskies scored three unanswered goals in the second period to support the excellent goaltending their goalie was providing them. When the Warriors failed to beat the Husky goalie late into the third period, including a saved penalty shot by Adam Montieth, the fourth Hamilton goal sealed the fate of the game. Ryan Bell competed hard in goal to the end for Stratford making several second effort saves on rebounds and keeping his team in the game to the end while Bryce Lee, Tyler Pogson, and Josh Dowling competed hard in their own zone on defence all afternoon.
