First Win of the Season
The Stratford Nes-Tech Warriors recorded their first win of the season this past weekend at the Dan Pulham Memorial Tournament in London.
In the opener versus the Hamilton Cyclones, Stratford dominated the first period but could not beat a strong goalie and ended up on the losing side of a 4-0 game. The Warriors bounced back in their second game, playing their best overall game of the year in a 10-0 victory over Ajax Selects. Scott Thornton had a hat trick to lead Stratford while Garrett Culliton had a goal and four assists, Tyler Gibb a goal and three assists, Ben Wyatt a goal and an assist and Tyler Gould, Matthew Whittemore and Keegan McArthur all added goals to round out the scoring. Cieran Diebolt recorded the shut-out for Stratford. In their third game Stratford faced off against league foe London Bandits Orange. The Warriors came out strong and controlled the first period yet once again failed to score. Ezra Lee made some big saves in the first for Stratford to keep the score tied until London broke the scoreless game with two quick goals early in the second period to jump in front. Tyler Gibb brought the Warriors back within one but that was as close as they got as the Bandits scored the last four goals of the game to take it 6-1.
