The Stratford Best Western Warriors opened their 10 game round robin playoff round Monday night in London, and edged the hometown Bandits 4-3 in Peewee MD West Alliance play.

Ethan Reid opened the scoring for Stratford in the first period, with Caelen Eveleigh and Blake Strickland picking up assists. Josh Smith scored the Warriors second of the game, midway through the second frame, with helpers going to Jake Emerson and Mac Starkebaum.

Eveleigh buried a slap shot from the top of the circle early in the third to extend the Warrior lead to 3-0, with  Strickland and Reid assisting, but Stratford ran into penalty troubles late in the third that let London back in the game, cutting the lead to 3-2.

Smith, scored a clutch unassisted insurance marker with just under four minutes remaining, to give Stratford the two goal advantage, and they hung on for the 4-3 win.
