Strong Silverstick Performances by the Canadian Tire Major Bantam Rep Team
The Stratford Canadian Tire Major Bantam Warriors recently participated in the Annual Stratford Silver Stick Tournament over the Christmas break.

They turned in an excellent 4 game performance playing against 4 strong AA teams.  In their first game of the tournament, in the battle of the Warriors, Evan Moorehead`s unassisted power play goal late in the third period tied the game at 1-1 vs Stoney Creek.  In their second match on Saturday, the Warriors staked themselves to a 3-1 lead after two periods, but 2 quick goals by the Amherstburg Stars knotted the game, making for a 3-3 final.  Kyle Morning was excellent in net, turning aside many late game chances from the Stars to preserve the tie.  Goal scorers for the Tiremen were Nathan Ferguson, Brett Denny and Nathan Hall, with helpers coming off the sticks of Michael Cossey, Jarrett Baker, Nathan Hall, and Dalton Smith.  Sunday morning pitted Stratford against the top-ranked and eventual champions, the London Jr. Knights.  A very exciting 3 periods of hockey was on display, ending in a 2-1 win for London.  Devon Carter, with an assist going to Jacob McPherson was the only shot to beat the Jr Knights goalie.  Jacob Ford was outstanding between the pipes for Stratford.  In their final game on Sunday, Stratford was once again in tough vs Kitchener Jr Rangers. Dalton Smith, assisted by Logan Bell, put the Warriors on the board first, but it was all the scoring they would do, with the Rangers coming out on top 3-1.  The entire team should be commended for a great hard-working tournament performance.
