Weekend Round-Up
The Stratford Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Rep team hosted two games on the weekend, entering the final weekend of the 12 game Seeded schedule with a 6-4 record.
On Saturday, the Warriors hosted the Waterloo Wolves who entered the game with a 5-6 record. The Wolves scored first and never looked back, routing the Warriors 8-0. The Wolves were first to the puck throughout the contest and made the most of their chances. The Warrior players were unable to prevent the Wolves from driving to the net throughout the contest.
On Sunday, the Warriors hosted the 6-3-2 Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets who entered the game ahead of the Warriors in the standings. In familiar fashion, the Warriors found themselves trailing early in the contest, spotting the Navy Vets a 2-0 lead. The Warriors were finally able to find their game in the middle period and controlled the play for much of the second half of the contest. Trailing 4-2 with and with the Warriors goalie on the bench in favor of the extra attacker, the Warriors were able to notch their 3rd goal with 1:44 left on the clock. Just 16 seconds later, the Warriors knotted the game at four with another sramble in front of the Navy Vets net. The Warriors continued to press in the final minute, but had to settle for a 4-4 draw.
The Warriors finished Seeded play with a 6-5-1 record and are currently sitting tied for 6th place. With one more game to play, the Warriors will need some help to remain there.
